Your Personal AI Tour Guide
Andhra Pradesh is on its way to becoming India's first AI-powered tourism state with the launch of NiVU AI. Developed in partnership with travel-tech company Explurger, this platform acts as a conversational travel guide for visitors. The initiative aims
to provide tourists with a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and significance of the state's many attractions. Instead of relying on static signboards or finding a human guide, visitors can now get instant, detailed information directly on their smartphones.
Simple, App-Free Access
One of the platform's most user-friendly features is its accessibility. Tourists do not need to download a special application. Instead, they can simply scan a QR code placed at a tourist site to begin interacting with the AI guide. This service is provided free of cost. After scanning the code, users can select their preferred language and ask questions via text or voice, receiving immediate responses about the site's history, rituals, and architectural details.
Breaking Language Barriers
The NiVU AI platform is designed to be a truly global tool, supporting more than 130 Indian and international languages. This multilingual capability is a game-changer for both domestic and international tourists who may not speak Telugu or English. It ensures that every visitor can connect with the state's heritage in a language they are comfortable with. A successful pilot project at the Mangalagiri temples saw hundreds of devotees daily using the service to learn about temple traditions in their native languages.
Statewide Phased Rollout
The government plans to deploy NiVU AI at over 100 tourist destinations in a phased, three-year rollout. The first phase will see the platform introduced at 30 major locations within the first year. These sites include a diverse mix of Andhra Pradesh's offerings, such as major temples, beaches, historical forts, heritage monuments, and natural attractions like the Araku Valley and Borra Caves. This widespread implementation aims to modernize the visitor experience across the entire state.
More Than Just a Guide
Beyond providing information to tourists, the platform offers significant benefits for tourism management. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority will gain access to real-time analytics on visitor preferences, popular languages, and travel patterns. This data-driven approach will help in better planning, destination management, and policy framing. For tourists, the AI can also suggest nearby attractions, helping them discover more of what the region has to offer and enriching their overall itinerary.
