New Timing for the Ranchi Vande Bharat
Passengers travelling on the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express (20888) need to take careful note of the new schedule. Currently, the train departs from Varanasi at 4:05 PM. Starting September 2, 2026, the train will depart 10 minutes earlier, at 3:55 PM. This service, which was inaugurated in March 2024, operates six days a week, with Tuesday being its off day. It covers a distance of approximately 536 kilometres in about 7 hours and 50 minutes, making it a fast and convenient option for travellers.
Revised Schedule for Deoghar Vande Bharat
Similarly, those planning a morning journey on the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express (22500) will need to adjust their travel plans. The train, which currently departs from Varanasi at 6:20 AM, will also see its departure time moved up by 10 minutes. From September 2, the new departure time will be 6:10 AM. This service is particularly significant for religious tourism, connecting directly to the town famous for the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple. Passengers are advised to plan for an earlier arrival at the station to avoid any inconvenience.
Why the Change and What to Expect
According to Northern Railway, these revisions are being implemented for operational reasons to enhance efficiency and punctuality across the network. While a 10-minute adjustment may seem minor, it can be critical for passengers accustomed to the previous schedule. Arriving at the station based on the old timings could result in missing the train entirely. It is important to note that these changes are only for the departure times from Varanasi station. The schedule for all subsequent stops on both routes remains unchanged. The arrival times at the final destinations of Ranchi and Deoghar are not affected by this particular revision.
