Inside, the coaches are designed to be quieter, with smoother suspension to minimise vibrations. Berths are wider and better cushioned, and each comes with its own reading light and charging point. Indian Railways seems to understand this well, strategically planning Vande Bharat sleeper routes that connect major metropolitan hubs with popular tourist and pilgrimage destinations. The inaugural route connected eastern India with the Northeast, and subsequent launches and proposals aim to link cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. A highly anticipated service is the one connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, which would drastically cut down the current 22-hour travel time by other trains. Another service linking Delhi to Patna targets one of the country's most high-demand corridors. These routes make destinations that once seemed too far for a two-day trip suddenly viable.

Unlike a budget flight where every extra costs more, or a road trip with unpredictable food stops, the Vande Bharat sleeper offers a more streamlined experience. Fares, which are only about 10-15% higher than a comparable Rajdhani ticket, include meals. The trains feature modern pantry cars, and the catering aims to provide quality regional cuisine.
