Why the Routes Are Changing
Indian Railways has scheduled significant engineering work across the Bhopal division, specifically focusing on yard remodelling and line connectivity. According to the West Central Railway, the main reason for these disruptions is the pre-non-interlocking
and non-interlocking work required to connect a new third railway line between Bina and Agasod stations. This upgrade is a crucial step towards enhancing capacity, reducing congestion, and improving the safety and speed of train operations on this busy corridor in the long run. The work is scheduled to take place in phases, culminating in a period of intense activity from early to mid-October, necessitating the rerouting of several passenger trains.
Key Dates for Diversions
The diversions and cancellations are not for the entire month but are concentrated during a specific window. Most of the affected services will run on their altered routes on various dates between October 1 and October 15, 2026. For instance, the Bhopal-Jodhpur Express will be diverted for the first two weeks of the month, while services like the Rewanchal Express will be rerouted from October 8 to 14. For example, Train No. 12185 (Rewa-Rani Kamalapati) and Train No. 12186 (Rani Kamalapati-Rewa) will be diverted via Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni. Similarly, Train No. 14814 (Bhopal-Jodhpur) will take a different path through Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Maksi, Nagda, and Kota. Other affected services include the Bhopal-Dhanbad Express, Bhopal-Singrauli Express, and Howrah-Bhopal Weekly Express.
