An All-Inclusive Itinerary
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a new "Wonders of Vietnam & Cambodia" tour package, providing an organised travel solution for those looking to explore these Southeast Asian countries. The seven-night, eight-day journey
is scheduled to run from November 17 to November 25, 2026, with departures from Chennai International Airport. This makes Chennai the second city, after Bengaluru, to offer this specific itinerary. The tour is designed to be comprehensive, covering key destinations like Da Nang, Hanoi, and the world-renowned Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, as well as Siem Reap in Cambodia, home to the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex. By bundling flights, accommodation, and sightseeing, the package removes many of the logistical hurdles that come with planning a multi-country trip.
What the Package Covers
A major part of the simplification promise lies in the package's inclusions. The starting price covers economy class airfare for the entire route, including the international flights from Chennai to Da Nang (via Singapore), the domestic flight from Da Nang to Hanoi, the international flight from Hanoi to Siem Reap, and the return journey from Siem Reap to Chennai (via Singapore). Beyond flights, the package includes accommodation in three-star hotels, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and all road travel in air-conditioned coaches. Crucially, the cost also covers visa fees for both Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as travel insurance for passengers up to the age of 79. An English-speaking guide will accompany the group, and all entrance fees for sightseeing spots, boat rides, and shows mentioned in the itinerary are also part of the deal.
A Journey Through Key Sights
The tour is packed with visits to iconic landmarks. In Vietnam, travellers will explore Da Nang's Marble Mountains, the famous Golden Bridge held by giant stone hands in the Ba Na Hills, and the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An Ancient Town. The itinerary then moves to Hanoi, the capital, for visits to the Temple of Literature and Hoan Kiem Lake. A major highlight is the excursion to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which includes a cruise through its famous limestone karsts and caves. After Vietnam, the tour flies to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Here, the focus is on the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat temple, the world's largest religious monument. The itinerary balances cultural sightseeing, natural wonders, and historical exploration, offering a curated experience of both nations.
Understanding the Cost
The pricing for the IRCTC package is structured based on occupancy. The cost for single occupancy is ₹1,75,200 per person. For those travelling with others, the price drops, with double-occupancy rooms priced at ₹1,53,750 per person and triple-occupancy at ₹1,51,250 per person. There are also specific rates for children travelling with adults. A child between five and eleven years requiring an extra bed will cost ₹1,31,500, while a child between two and eleven not needing an extra bed costs ₹1,15,600. These prices are inclusive of the main tour components and 2% Tax Collected at Source (TCS). However, it is important to note that any airfare for infants must be paid directly to the airline.
