increase, even as general recruitment dipped slightly. This divergence shows that companies are strategically investing in AI capabilities, prioritizing specialized talent over mass hiring. A Nomura report found that between 2022 and August 2026, India actually saw more AI-related jobs created than lost. However, the nature of these jobs is changing. Routine, entry-level tasks in areas like quality assurance testing and customer support are increasingly being automated. This means the era of easy, repetitive IT jobs may be ending, replaced by a demand for higher-order skills.
The New Job Titles of the AI Era
As old roles are automated, a host of new, AI-centric positions are emerging. The demand for roles like AI and Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and AI Specialists is expected to dominate hiring for the next decade.
