The route features 38 tunnels and 927 bridges, including the iconic Chenab Bridge—the world's highest railway arch bridge—and the Anji Khad Bridge, India's first cable-stayed railway bridge. After decades of complex construction, the final sections were completed, allowing for direct train services to connect the valley with the rest of India, a milestone that was achieved with services being extended from Katra to Jammu Tawi in April 2026.
The Vande Bharat Experience
