By removing the fear of the blank page, AI empowers teachers to be more ambitious and innovative in their instructional design.
The View from the Indian Classroom
In India, the conversation around AI in education is rapidly gaining momentum, driven by initiatives like the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes technology-driven learning. The government has signalled its intent to integrate AI at all levels of education. Indian ed-tech companies are already developing platforms that offer personalised learning and assist teachers with curriculum design. However, significant challenges remain. The digital divide means that access to the necessary infrastructure is uneven, particularly in rural areas. There is also a critical need for comprehensive teacher training to ensure educators are equipped to use these tools effectively. Addressing these issues of access, training, and data privacy will be crucial for the successful and equitable integration of AI in Indian schools.
