In the near future, you might be able to set up rules for an AI agent to handle these payments for you. According to recent reports, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is developing a framework, potentially called the Unified Agent Protocol, that would allow AI agents to make small, recurring payments without needing your approval for every single transaction. This means your AI assistant could pay for your groceries or other frequent purchases within a pre-set budget, freeing you from manual approvals.
Hyper-Personalised Shopping and Offers
For shoppers, the integration of AI with UPI spending data will lead to hyper-personalized experiences. By understanding your purchasing habits, AI can help merchants deliver tailored discounts and product recommendations directly to you. The use cases could become quite sophisticated. For instance, an AI agent could be instructed to automatically purchase an item from your wishlist when it hits a certain discount threshold or even make investments based on pre-agreed conditions.
