system where every food item can be tracked at each stage of the supply chain. This 'digital passport' is not just for curious consumers; it's a critical safety tool. If a batch of produce is found to be contaminated, traceability allows authorities to pinpoint the source within hours, not days. This enables swift and precise recalls, preventing widespread foodborne illness and protecting public health. Many of the foods we rely on daily—milk, curd, fresh vegetables, meat, and frozen snacks—are highly perishable. Their safety depends on being kept at a consistent, cool temperature. This is where the 'cold chain' comes in. It's an uninterrupted, temperature-controlled supply chain that protects goods from the moment they are produced until they reach the consumer.
