Even if an appliance was not directly in contact with floodwater, high humidity can cause moisture to build up inside. Any appliance that has been exposed to water should be professionally inspected before use, as even a small amount of trapped moisture can cause significant damage or a safety risk. Pay special attention to devices that were near open windows or in basements. Unplug appliances that are not in use, especially during thunderstorms, to protect them from potential damage.
