Key Positions and Vacancies
The ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB) has released a notification for the recruitment of Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts. According to the notice, there are approximately 93 vacancies available across various disciplines. These positions are spread
across different ISRO centres, including locations like Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Sriharikota. The main engineering disciplines targeted in this drive are Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Science, among others.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
To be eligible for the Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts, candidates must meet specific academic and other criteria. Applicants are required to have a B.E./B.Tech or an equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline with a minimum aggregate of 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Crucially, this recruitment cycle mandates a valid score from the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The notice specifies that scores from either GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 are acceptable for consideration.
The Application Process Explained
The application process is conducted entirely online through ISRO's official website, isro.gov.in. Interested candidates should navigate to the 'Careers' section to find the relevant advertisement, which is Advt. No. ISRO:ICRB:02(EMC-CEPO). After registering with a valid email and mobile number, applicants must fill out the form with accurate personal, academic, and GATE score details. Once the application is submitted, a registration number is generated, which candidates must save for all future correspondence. Candidates registered on the National Career Service (NCS) portal who meet the criteria can also apply through that platform.
Important Dates to Remember
The window for this recruitment is limited, and candidates must adhere to the deadlines. The online application portal opened on July 28, 2026. The final date to submit online applications is August 17 or August 18, 2026, depending on the source, so applying early is advised. The deadline for the payment of any applicable fees is shortly after the application closing date, on August 19, 2026.
How Selection Will Be Done
The selection process for these coveted positions does not involve a separate written test. Instead, ISRO will shortlist candidates for a personal interview based on their GATE scores. The organisation plans to call candidates for the interview in a 1:7 ratio for each vacancy. The final selection will be determined by a merit list that gives 50% weightage to the candidate's GATE score and 50% weightage to their performance in the personal interview. This interview will assess a candidate's technical knowledge, comprehension, and communication skills.
Other Opportunities at ISRO
While this notice focuses on Scientist/Engineer posts, ISRO regularly announces vacancies for other roles as well. Throughout 2026, there have been separate recruitment drives for positions like Assistant, Upper Division Clerk (UDC), Junior Personal Assistant (JPA), and Stenographer. There have also been notifications for technical and scientific assistants at specific centres like ISTRAC and NRSC. Aspiring candidates should regularly monitor the official ISRO careers portal for notifications that match their qualifications, as different roles have distinct eligibility criteria and selection processes.
