What is the New Visa Waiver Offer?
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a special program aimed at making travel from India more accessible. From August 1 to October 31, 2026, the department will cover the full cost of a UAE entry visa for Indian
tourists who book a qualifying holiday package in the emirate. This initiative is designed to encourage longer stays and reduce the upfront cost of planning a trip. It is important to note this is a cost-waiver program tied to specific bookings, not a general visa-free travel policy for all Indian passport holders. A standard visa still needs to be processed, but the fee, approximately AED 285 or around ₹6,500, is paid by DCT Abu Dhabi for eligible travellers.
Who Is Eligible to Qualify?
This promotional offer is specifically tailored for Indian passport holders who are beginning their journey from India. Eligibility is not automatic and is strictly tied to the holiday booking itself. You cannot apply for this benefit independently through official visa portals. The entire process is managed through participating travel agencies and approved online booking platforms. This means that simply booking a standalone flight or a hotel directly will not make you eligible for the visa fee waiver. The offer is designed to benefit those booking a complete holiday package through the correct channels.
The Key Booking Requirements
To ensure your trip qualifies for the visa fee waiver, your booking must meet three essential criteria. First, you must book your holiday through a participating travel partner or an online travel agency (OTA) approved by DCT Abu Dhabi. Second, your itinerary must include a minimum stay of three consecutive nights at a hotel within Abu Dhabi. A shorter stay or a stay in a different emirate will not qualify. Third, the package must include a return flight that departs from India. Only when all these conditions are met within a single package booking will the visa fee be covered.
How to Claim the Benefit
The process for claiming the visa fee waiver is straightforward and handled by your travel provider. You do not need to fill out any separate forms or applications for the waiver itself. When you book a qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday package, the participating travel agency will handle the visa application process. They work directly with DCT Abu Dhabi or its appointed destination management companies (DMCs) to ensure the visa fee is covered. The cost is either paid directly by the tourism department or reimbursed to the travel partner, meaning the final package price you pay should not include this visa charge. The key is to confirm with your travel agent at the time of booking that your package is part of this specific promotional program.
Important Details to Remember
This initiative is a pilot program with a fixed duration and capacity. It runs only until October 31, 2026, and is capped at the first 20,000 visas. Given the high demand for travel from India, this quota could be filled before the October deadline. Therefore, it is advisable to book sooner rather than later to take advantage of the offer. Always verify with your travel provider that the promotion is still active and that your booking qualifies before making a final payment. This ensures there are no surprises and you can enjoy the full benefit of this cost-saving opportunity for your Abu Dhabi adventure.
