cool, with misty mornings giving way to clear, sunny days, perfect for driving and sightseeing. Unlike the peak monsoon, road conditions are generally more stable, though caution is always advised on winding hill roads. This season offers a perfect balance of dramatic, rain-fed beauty without the constant downpour, allowing you to explore comfortably.
Route 1: The Madikeri Town Circuit
For a classic Coorg experience, base yourself in or around Madikeri. A popular and accessible weekend route starts with a trip to Abbey Falls, located just a few kilometres from the town. Post-monsoon, the falls are a powerful spectacle, cascading down amidst private coffee and spice estates. From there, head to Raja's Seat, a garden that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the rolling hills and valleys, especially at sunset. From there, continue the ascent to Talakaveri. Situated atop the Brahmagiri hills, the site offers not only a temple but also sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. The drive from Madikeri to Virajpet itself is scenic, winding through coffee plantations and small villages. From Virajpet, head towards Iruppu Falls, located near the border of the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. The falls are particularly impressive after the monsoon. Nearby is the Nagarhole National Park, where you might get a chance to spot wildlife if you venture near its buffer zones. Another worthy stop is Chelavara Falls, a spectacular waterfall located about 26 km from Virajpet.
