There is a tremendous demand for engineers with expertise in frontier technologies. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are at the top of the list, with demand for GenAI specialists surging dramatically. Alongside AI, deep skills in cybersecurity, cloud computing (especially platforms like AWS and Azure), and data engineering are critical. However, technical skills alone are not enough. Several reports indicate that GCCs are offering higher salaries than traditional IT services companies for comparable roles, particularly at mid-senior levels where the premium can be substantial. Projections for 2026 show salary increments at GCCs are expected to outpace those in the IT services sector. The advantage becomes even more pronounced at senior leadership levels. Beyond pay, GCCs offer distinct career growth opportunities. For fresh graduates, it’s a chance to work on core product development from day one. Places like Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, and Vizag are becoming new hotspots as companies search for diverse talent pools and build out resilient, geographically distributed teams.
