The industry is moving from a labour-based outsourcing model to one driven by AI-enabled products, platforms, and consulting services. This shift is expected to unlock a massive new market for technology services by 2030.
Upskilling Becomes a Survival Skill
The rapid changes mean that upskilling and reskilling are no longer optional but essential for survival. A significant majority of India's workforce may need to acquire new AI-related skills in the coming years to remain relevant. Recognizing this, major IT firms like TCS and Infosys are investing heavily in training hundreds of thousands of employees in AI and generative AI. The goal is to build a future-ready workforce that is proficient in AI tools and methodologies. The demand for AI talent in India is projected to far outstrip supply, creating a significant skills gap that both corporations and the government are racing to fill through various initiatives. For individual workers, investing in courses on AI literacy, data analysis, and machine learning has become a crucial step for career progression.
The Human Element Is More Valuable Than Ever
As AI takes over repetitive and analytical tasks, uniquely human skills become more valuable.
