Understanding the Recruitment Gauntlet
ISRO primarily recruits Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts through two main stages: a written test and a personal interview. Some recruitments may also use GATE scores for shortlisting candidates. The written test is an objective paper typically split into
two parts. Part A covers your specific engineering discipline with 80 questions and carries negative marking for incorrect answers. Part B assesses general aptitude and reasoning with around 15-20 questions and usually has no negative marking. Candidates are then shortlisted for the interview, often in a 1:5 or 1:7 ratio based on written test performance. Final selection gives significant weightage to both the written exam and the interview, often a 50:50 split.
