Step 1: The Great Bedding Audit

This keeps everything for one bed together, eliminating the frantic search for a matching piece. For cooler weather, you can create a 'winter kit' that also includes a specific quilt or duvet cover. The goal is to create grab-and-go sets that make preparing a guest bed a one-minute job.
Step 3: Smart Storage for Small Spaces
In a small home, every centimetre counts. Forget dedicated linen closets if you don't have one. Instead, look for unused spaces. Under-bed storage containers are perfect for keeping bedding kits dust-free and out of sight. For bulky items like duvets and winter blankets, vacuum-sealed bags are a game-changer. They compress items to a fraction of their size, allowing you to slide them under a bed or tuck them on top of a wardrobe. However, be cautious with natural down comforters, which can be damaged by full compression. Other options include storage ottomans or benches, which double as seating, and utilising vertical space on top of cupboards with attractive woven baskets. Always choose a cool, dry, and dark storage area to prevent fading and moisture damage.

This level of detail saves you from having to open multiple containers to find what you need. You can use simple stick-on labels, printable tags, or even clip-on labels for baskets.
