For years, conventional wisdom suggested that evening exercise was a recipe for a restless night, arguing that it raises your heart rate and body temperature. However, a growing body of research is challenging this notion, suggesting the answer is more

Many studies now indicate that moderate-intensity exercise in the evening does not negatively impact sleep for most healthy adults and may even help them fall asleep faster and enjoy more deep sleep. The key seems to be intensity and timing. Vigorous workouts, like high-intensity interval training (HIIT), performed less than an hour or two before bed can delay sleep onset by stimulating the nervous system and inhibiting the production of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles. Conversely, a morning workout can help regulate the body's internal clock, or circadian rhythm, potentially making it easier to fall asleep at night. Ultimately, some research suggests that people may naturally gravitate towards the exercise time that best suits their internal rhythm, whether they are an 'early bird' or a 'night owl.'

Therefore, if your schedule only allows for an evening workout, opting for a moderate-level activity or leaving a buffer of at least two to four hours before bed is advisable.
