Understand the Two-Stage Selection Process
Securing a position at ISRO involves a rigorous two-stage selection process. The first stage is a written test, often a Computer-Based Test (CBT), designed to assess your technical and aptitude skills. Candidates who perform well in this test are then shortlisted for the second stage: a personal interview. The final merit list is prepared by giving equal 50% weightage to both the written test score and the interview performance. Mastering the Written Examination
The written test is the primary screening process. It is typically divided into two parts. Part A focuses on your core engineering discipline and consists of about 80 questions. The interview is the final and most crucial step. It is a purely technical discussion conducted by a panel of senior scientists. The interview assesses the depth of your understanding of fundamental engineering principles. You will likely be asked to name a few of your favourite subjects from your B.Tech course, and the questions will follow from there. Be prepared to discuss your final year project in detail, explaining the technical choices you made. The panel is not just looking for correct answers but also for your thought process and problem-solving abilities. It is vital to be honest and not to bluff. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are also important.
