A Major Boost for Konkan Connectivity
Indian Railways has officially approved the introduction of a new daily Express train service linking Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) with Sawantwadi Road. This development is a significant step in strengthening the rail network along
the bustling Konkan coast, a region celebrated for its natural beauty but often challenging to traverse. The new service, which will operate as Train No. 15087 from Mumbai and No. 15088 on its return journey, aims to address the long-standing demand for better and more reliable public transport in the area. By providing a direct, daily link, the train is poised to become a vital artery for the region, catering to a diverse group of passengers.
Tracing the Scenic 510-Kilometre Route
The new express service will cover a distance of approximately 510 kilometres along the picturesque Konkan Railway route. With 22 scheduled commercial halts, the train will connect numerous important towns and destinations. Key stops along the way include Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, and Kudal before terminating at Sawantwadi Road. This extensive list of stops ensures that the service is not just for end-to-end travellers but also for those commuting between smaller towns in the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, enhancing intra-regional mobility significantly.

The Konkan coast is a treasure trove of tourist destinations, featuring pristine beaches, historic forts, ancient temples, and lush eco-tourism spots.
