Balsam (Gul Mehndi)

Marigold (Genda)

It is exceptionally tolerant of heavy rain and blooms almost continuously throughout the year, with a special flourish during the monsoon. Its charming flowers come in shades of pink, white, and lavender. This plant is ideal for beginners as it requires very little care and can handle the varied conditions of the rainy season, from downpours to humid, overcast days, making it perfect for pots and hanging baskets.
Essential Monsoon Care Tips
While these plants love the rain, a few general care tips can ensure your entire balcony garden thrives. The biggest risk during monsoon is root rot from waterlogged soil. Ensure every pot has clear drainage holes. It can be helpful to elevate pots on bricks or stands to help excess water drain away freely. Even though it’s raining, check the soil moisture before watering manually; on rainy days, you can likely skip it. Good air circulation is key to preventing fungal diseases, so avoid crowding pots too closely together. A preventive spray of neem oil every couple of weeks can help keep pests and fungal issues at bay.
