India's IT behemoths like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro are not standing still. They are executing a two-pronged strategy: aggressive internal upskilling and targeted external hiring. Wipro, for instance, has trained over 220,000 of its staff in AI. Simultaneously, the era of bulk hiring freshers in anticipation of future projects is fading. This has led to leaner operations, with companies reducing their 'bench' of unassigned employees and using AI-powered workforce planning to improve utilisation and boost revenue per employee.

The path to staying relevant involves a commitment to continuous learning. This can take many forms: pursuing online certifications in high-demand areas like machine learning or AI ethics, enrolling in company-sponsored training programs, or experimenting with AI tools to build practical experience.
