There's also high demand for experience with data analytics, digital marketing, and cybersecurity, all fields being revolutionized by AI. Young workers who can demonstrate an ability to use these tools to drive real business outcomes are proving to be indispensable.

As the world's back office, the Indian IT and business process outsourcing sectors are at the forefront of this transformation. While there is anxiety about job security, with a recent survey showing 66% of AI/ML workers expect layoffs, the broader picture is more nuanced. The same surveys show engineers and data analysts feel more secure, suggesting that the application of AI skills is valued highly. Companies are actively restructuring, but much of the hiring is focused on IT graduates who can meet the demand for AI, cloud, and cybersecurity skills, creating a two-tier labour market where those with future-ready skills have a distinct advantage.
