In its latest quarterly review, the Ministry of Finance announced that interest rates on schemes like the Public Provident Fund (PPF), National Savings Certificate (NSC), and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) will remain unchanged. For savers and investors,

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY): For Your Daughter's Future
Specifically designed to secure the future of a girl child, the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana offers the highest interest rate among these three schemes, currently at 8.2%. This scheme was launched under the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign. A parent or legal guardian can open an account for a girl child under the age of 10. Like PPF, SSY enjoys the coveted EEE tax status, where the investment, interest, and maturity amount are all tax-free. The maximum annual investment is ₹1.5 lakh. The account matures 21 years from the date of opening or upon the girl's marriage after she turns 18. Partial withdrawal of up to 50% is allowed for her higher education once she turns 18.
