Why the Disruption is Happening
The route alterations are required to facilitate major yard remodelling at the Bina and Agasod stations. This work is part of a critical project by West Central Railway and North Central Railway to connect a third railway line between these two stations. The process
involves pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work, which are technical upgrades to the signalling system that allow for safer and more efficient train movement. While these changes cause short-term inconvenience, they are vital for increasing the network's capacity, improving the punctuality of trains, and ensuring safer operations in a high-traffic corridor. The upgrades will ultimately help accommodate rising rail traffic and enhance overall reliability.
Key Dates for Travellers
Passengers should note that the diversions are not for the entire month but are scheduled on specific dates for each train. The overall period for this phase of non-interlocking work is from early September until October 15, 2026. The majority of the 17 specified train diversions will occur between October 1 and October 15. For example, the Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Rewanchal Express services are diverted from October 8 to 14, while the Bhopal-Jodhpur Express diversion runs from October 1 to 15. It is crucial for passengers to check the exact dates applicable to their specific service.
Affected Trains and Their New Routes
Seventeen train services will be rerouted during this period. Passengers booked on these trains will not pass through their usual stations and must account for the new routes. Some of the key affected services include: Train No. 12185/12186 Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Rewanchal Express: Will run via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi Junction from October 8 to 14. Train No. 14813/14814 Jodhpur-Bhopal Express: Will be diverted via Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Maksi Junction, Nagda, and Kota between October 1 and 15. Train No. 11703/11704 Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express: Will be diverted via Bina Malkhedi, Mahadevkhedi, Guna, Ruthiyai, and Maksi on select dates between October 8 and 14. Train No. 22165/22166 Bhopal-Singrauli Express: Will operate via Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni South on specific dates between October 9 and 14. * Train No. 11465/11466 Jabalpur-Veraval Express: Will be rerouted via the Bhopal-Itarsi route on October 9, 10, and 12. Other services, including the Chopan-Bhopal Weekly Express, will also follow diverted paths through junctions like Jabalpur, Itarsi, and New Katni Junction on their scheduled days of operation.
Advice for Passengers
For anyone with travel plans on these routes during October, proactive planning is essential. The first step is to confirm if your train is on the diversion list. Given the altered routes, journey times may be longer, and the train will not stop at its usual stations, most notably Bina. Passengers boarding or alighting at stations that are now skipped will need to make alternative arrangements. Indian Railways advises all passengers to check the live status of their trains before heading to the station. This can be done using official railway websites and mobile applications. As diversions can sometimes lead to delays, it is wise to build extra time into your travel schedule. For those with confirmed tickets on affected services, understanding the new route and stations is key to a smoother journey.
