An All-Inclusive Journey
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced an eight-day tour named “Wonders of Vietnam & Cambodia,” departing directly from Chennai. This makes Tamil Nadu's capital the second city, after Bengaluru, to offer this specific itinerary,
opening up convenient access for South Indian travellers. The package is designed to be largely all-inclusive, covering return air tickets, visa fees, hotel accommodation, specified meals, road transfers, and the services of guides. With prices starting at approximately ₹1.5 lakh per person for double occupancy, it aims to provide a seamless travel experience from start to finish. The tour is scheduled to run from November 17 to November 25, 2026.
Exploring Vietnam's Highlights
The journey begins with a flight from Chennai to Da Nang, Vietnam. The itinerary in Vietnam is packed with iconic sights. Travellers will explore the scenic Marble Mountains, the famous Golden Bridge held by giant stone hands in the Ba Na Hills, and the charming, lantern-lit streets of Hoi An Ancient Town. The tour also covers Da Nang's modern attractions like the Dragon Bridge. From there, guests will fly to the nation's capital, Hanoi, to visit historical landmarks such as the Temple of Literature and Hoan Kiem Lake. A major highlight of the Vietnamese leg is an excursion to the stunning Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, guests will take a cruise amidst the thousands of limestone karsts and islets, with opportunities for activities like kayaking.
The Ancient Wonders of Cambodia
On the sixth day, the tour group travels from Hanoi to Siem Reap in Cambodia, the gateway to the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex. As the world's largest religious monument and a paramount example of Khmer architecture, Angkor Wat is the centerpiece of the Cambodian visit. The itinerary allows dedicated time to explore this sprawling UNESCO World Heritage site, which includes not just the main temple but other significant structures within Angkor Thom like the Bayon Temple. The Cambodian portion of the trip focuses on immersing travellers in the profound history and spiritual significance of the ancient Khmer empire before the return journey to Chennai via Singapore on the eighth day.
What the Package Includes
This organised tour is structured to handle most of the logistical planning for travellers. The package price includes round-trip airfare from Chennai, all road transfers and bus services for sightseeing, and accommodation in well-regarded hotels. It also covers most meals as per the itinerary, the services of a tour escort or guide, all applicable entrance fees for monuments, visa charges for both Vietnam and Cambodia, and travel insurance. Pricing varies based on occupancy, with single-person bookings costing more than double or triple sharing arrangements. Specific rates are also available for children travelling with adults. It is important for travellers to note that while comprehensive, incidental expenses and meals not specified in the itinerary are typically excluded. IRCTC has also noted that flight schedules are subject to change by the airlines.
