The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has rolled out a pilot programme that covers the cost of a UAE entry visa for eligible Indian tourists. This initiative aims to make travel to the emirate more affordable and accessible
for one of its most important international markets. The scheme will run from August 1 to October 31, 2026, and is capped at an initial 20,000 visas. It's important to note this is not a general visa-waiver policy; travellers will still be issued a formal UAE entry visa, but the cost, approximately AED 285 (around ₹6,600), will be covered by DCT Abu Dhabi. The travel itself must take place before the October 31 deadline to qualify.
Who is Eligible for the Offer?
This offer is tailored specifically for Indian passport holders who are departing from India. To qualify, travellers cannot book their flights and hotels independently. The complimentary visa is only available as part of a package booked through participating travel partners and select online travel agencies (OTAs). The core requirement of the package is a minimum stay of three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel, coupled with a confirmed return flight from India. There is no stated limit on how many people in a single family or group can avail the offer, as long as each individual meets all the necessary conditions.
How to Secure Your Complimentary Visa
Travellers cannot apply for this free visa directly. The entire process is managed through approved travel companies. The first step is to find a participating travel partner, which includes major agencies like MakeMyTrip, Thomas Cook, SOTC, Akbar Travels, and several others. When booking a qualifying holiday package of three or more nights, you must confirm with the agent that your booking is eligible for the complimentary visa under this scheme. The travel partner will then handle the visa application process on your behalf through a DCT-appointed Destination Management Company (DMC) or get reimbursed for the cost. Before departing, it's crucial to double-check all the details on your issued visa to ensure they are correct.

India is a crucial tourism market for Abu Dhabi. The large Indian expatriate community in the UAE, numbering around 800,000 in Abu Dhabi alone, creates a strong foundation for visiting friends and relatives. This visa initiative is part of a broader strategy by DCT Abu Dhabi to strengthen its connection with the Indian market. By directly subsidizing travel costs with this Dh5.7 million initiative, the emirate aims to boost visitor numbers and encourage longer stays.
