A First-of-its-Kind Partnership
In a move marking a significant industry-academia collaboration, EY India and SRCC have launched AI VIBE (Varsity for Innovation, Business and Economics). This 12-month, EY-sponsored program is designed to equip SRCC’s commerce and economics students
with cutting-edge AI skills. Open to students from their third semester onwards, the selection process is rigorous, involving assessments, interviews, and a statement of purpose. The inaugural batch will consist of 100 students who will receive the training at no cost. The curriculum is comprehensive, covering machine learning, Generative AI, data analytics, blockchain, and responsible AI governance. The training goes beyond theory, incorporating a blended model of in-person classes, live virtual sessions, hackathons, and mentorship from EY's own AI specialists.
Why Now? The Widening Skills Gap
This collaboration is a direct response to a growing crisis in the Indian job market: the gap between academic knowledge and industry needs. As businesses rapidly integrate AI into core processes like auditing, financial analysis, and consulting, the demand for AI-literate professionals has soared. Companies like EY, which invests over $1 billion globally in AI platforms, need a steady pipeline of talent that can blend domain expertise in commerce with practical AI capabilities. SRCC's Principal, Prof. Simrit Kaur, noted that by connecting education directly with industry, the initiative aims to help students enter the workforce with greater readiness. The program is designed not just to teach what AI is, but to provide hands-on experience with real-world business challenges, effectively bridging the skills gap before graduation.
