What's New in the CBSE Process?
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the results for Class 12 re-evaluation and verification applications have started being released in phases as of June 21, 2026. [4, 9] Over 87% of the applications have already been processed
in the first phase. [7] The most significant change is that students who applied for verification and received a "no change" outcome will now have the opportunity to physically inspect their answer books at their respective CBSE Regional Office. [3, 8] This is a major step towards transparency, as previously students could not review their evaluated answer books in this manner. [3] The schedule for this physical inspection will be announced by the board soon. [8, 12]
How to Check Your Revised Scores
Students who applied for post-result services like verification or re-evaluation can check their updated results on the DigiLocker platform. [4, 7] Revised marksheets, if any changes occurred, are being uploaded to each candidate's DigiLocker account simultaneously with the result release. [12, 14] To check your status and revised score, you need to log in to the portal at results.digilocker.gov.in using your credentials, such as your roll number and school number. [4, 11] The board has stated that this is a phased release, so students whose results are still processing should wait, as the entire process is expected to be completed soon. [9, 12]
Verification vs. Re-evaluation: Know the Difference
It's crucial for students to understand the distinction between the two main post-result services. 'Verification of Marks' is a process to check for totaling errors and to ensure that every answer has been assessed. [5, 15] It does not involve re-assessing the answers themselves. [5] On the other hand, 'Re-evaluation' is a more thorough process where a student can request a re-assessment of specific answers or questions they feel were not marked correctly. [5, 16] To apply for re-evaluation, a student must first obtain a scanned copy of their answer sheet. [10] This allows them to make an informed decision about which specific questions to challenge. [6]
The Three-Step Process Explained
The entire post-result redressal system follows a clear sequence. First, a student can apply for 'Verification of Marks'. The second step is to apply for and obtain a 'Photocopy of the Answer Sheet'. [10] Having this scanned copy is a prerequisite for the third step. [16] Finally, after reviewing their answer sheet, a student can apply for 'Re-evaluation' of specific questions. [10] The application window for Class 12 students to obtain scanned copies was from May 19 to May 25, 2026, and the window for verification and re-evaluation applications was from June 2 to June 7, 2026. [4, 9]
Understanding the Outcomes and What's Next
Applying for re-evaluation does not guarantee an increase in marks. The board has clarified that following a review, marks can increase, decrease, or remain unchanged. [2, 14] If your score changes, a revised marksheet will be issued via DigiLocker, and you will need to surrender your old, original marksheet to your school or regional office to receive the new physical copy. [7] For students whose marks increase after re-evaluation, the fee paid for the re-evaluation of those specific questions is refunded. [11] However, the decision after re-evaluation is final and binding; no further appeals are permitted. [11]
