Understanding the Free Visa Initiative
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a pilot program specifically for Indian travellers. It's important to understand that this isn't a visa-free travel policy. Instead, for eligible bookings, DCT Abu Dhabi will
cover the entire cost of the UAE entry visa, which is approximately AED 285 ($77). This means you still receive an official visa, but the fee is waived. The initiative is designed to encourage longer stays and make the holiday planning process smoother and more budget-friendly. This promotional scheme is for a limited time, valid for travel that occurs between August 1, 2026, and October 31, 2026. To qualify, your trip must be completed within this window, not just booked by the deadline. Furthermore, the program is initially capped at 20,000 visas, so availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who Is Eligible for the Offer?
The eligibility criteria for this free visa offer are very specific and must all be met. Simply being an Indian passport holder is not enough. To qualify, you must: hold a valid Indian passport and be travelling from India. The offer is exclusively for holiday packages, not for independent travel arrangements. Your booking must include a minimum stay of three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel. Additionally, the package must include a return flight from India. Flight-only or hotel-only bookings will not qualify for the complimentary visa. The entire package—flights and accommodation—must be booked together through one of the designated travel partners.
The Most Important Step: Approved Partners
This is the non-negotiable part of the deal: you cannot apply for this free visa independently. The offer is only accessible through a select list of participating travel agencies and online platforms that have partnered with DCT Abu Dhabi for this promotion. Booking directly with an airline or a non-participating agent will make you ineligible for the visa cost waiver. These partners are responsible for processing your visa application as part of your holiday package. According to reports, the list of approved travel partners includes several well-known names in the Indian travel industry. The officially listed partners are: Akbar Holidays, Thomas Cook and SOTC, MakeMyTrip, Thrillophilia, PickYourTrail, Kesari Tours, Riya Travels, Holiday Tribe, Utazzo.com, Royal Tours, and Aaryan Leisure. You must book your complete, qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday package through one of these companies to benefit from the scheme.
A Simple Guide to Claiming Your Free Visa
The process is designed to be straightforward, with the travel partner handling the technicalities. First, choose one of the approved travel partners listed above. Second, work with them to book a qualifying holiday package that includes your return flights from India and a hotel stay of at least three consecutive nights in Abu Dhabi. Third, provide the necessary documents (passport copies, photographs, etc.) to your travel agent so they can process the visa application on your behalf. The agent will handle the submission through the official channels where DCT Abu Dhabi covers the cost. Finally, once your visa is issued, double-check all the details like your name, passport number, and validity dates to ensure everything is correct before you travel. Remember, all applications are still subject to approval by UAE immigration authorities.
