For the first time, travellers from Northeast India can fly directly to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) without the hassle of a layover in a major metro city. Air India Express is launching two landmark routes from Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi
International Airport (LGBIA). The first flight is set to connect Guwahati with Dubai starting August 4, followed by a new service to Abu Dhabi commencing on August 7. This historic expansion makes Air India Express the first airline to offer non-stop service between the Northeast and West Asia, a game-changer for the region's international connectivity. The new services are a direct answer to the long-standing demand for better international travel options from Assam and its neighbouring states.
What is the Flight Schedule?
Travellers can now plan their trips with a clear schedule. The Guwahati-Dubai service will operate every Tuesday. It is scheduled to depart from Guwahati at 12:25 PM and arrive in Dubai at 4:10 PM local time. The return flight will leave Dubai at 5:10 PM, reaching Guwahati just after midnight. The Guwahati-Abu Dhabi route will operate weekly every Friday, departing Guwahati at 11:30 AM and landing in the UAE capital at 3:15 PM. The return service departs Abu Dhabi at 4:15 PM, arriving back in Guwahati at 11:30 PM. Previously, any journey to the Gulf required a multi-hour layover, often involving changing airlines in cities like Delhi or Kolkata, adding significant time and complexity to the trip. These direct routes slash travel time and offer unprecedented convenience.

Already one of the airline's largest domestic stations with around 120 weekly flights, the addition of Dubai and Abu Dhabi marks its first international services from the city, solidifying Guwahati's growing stature.
