Indian Railways has announced a revision in the departure schedules for two prominent Vande Bharat Express trains originating from Varanasi. The change, which takes effect on September 2, 2026, is aimed at optimizing operations. The two services impacted
are the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express and the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express. Passengers planning to travel on these routes are advised to take note of the new timings to avoid any inconvenience, as both trains will now depart 10 minutes earlier than their previous schedules. The adjustment is specific to the departure from Varanasi; timings at all subsequent stations on both routes will remain unchanged.
New Schedule: Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express
The Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express, designated by train number 20888, will now depart from Varanasi at 3:55 PM. This is a 10-minute advancement from its previous departure time of 4:05 PM. This popular service, which runs six days a week (except Tuesdays), connects Uttar Pradesh with Jharkhand, covering approximately 536 kilometers in about 7 hours and 50 minutes. The train stops at several key stations, including Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Sasaram, Gaya, Koderma, Hazaribagh Road, Parasnath, Bokaro Steel City, and Muri before reaching Ranchi. The service was inaugurated in March 2024 and has become a vital link for travelers in the region.

The second train with a revised schedule is the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express (train number 22500). Previously departing at 6:20 AM, this train will now begin its journey from Varanasi at 6:10 AM, also 10 minutes earlier. This service is crucial for pilgrims and tourists heading to the temple town of Deoghar in Jharkhand, famous for the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple. Like the Ranchi service, the schedule change for the Deoghar train only applies to its starting point in Varanasi. All subsequent halt timings remain the same. This train provides a relatively quick and modern daytime connection for a significant pilgrimage route.
