The Current Recruitment Drive
ISRO, through its Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB), has opened applications for approximately 93 Scientist/Engineer 'SC' positions. This recruitment is a significant opportunity for graduates to join various ISRO centres across the country, including
facilities in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Thiruvananthapuram. The available posts span several key engineering disciplines such as Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Civil engineering, reflecting the diverse expertise needed to power India's space missions. The roles are classified at Level 10 in the pay matrix, offering a competitive starting basic salary of Rs. 56,100 per month plus allowances.
Core Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for these coveted roles, candidates must meet specific academic and age criteria. Applicants need a B.E. or B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering discipline with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Perhaps the most critical requirement for this recruitment cycle is a valid score from the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Candidates must possess a valid score from either GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 to be eligible for shortlisting. The maximum age for general category applicants is 28 years as of the application closing date, August 17, 2026. Standard age relaxations apply for candidates from OBC, SC, and ST categories as per government norms.
The Two-Stage Selection Process
The selection procedure is designed to identify top talent and is broken down into two main stages. The first step does not involve a separate written test by ISRO. Instead, the organisation will shortlist candidates based on their valid GATE scores. ISRO plans to shortlist candidates for interviews in a 1:7 ratio for each available post, using the GATE score as the primary metric, not the GATE rank or marks. The second stage is a comprehensive personal interview. This interview will assess a candidate’s technical depth in their subject, communication skills, and overall suitability for a scientific role within the organisation. Final selection will be based on performance in this interview.
How to Apply Before the Deadline
The application process is entirely online through the official ISRO website, www.isro.gov.in. Candidates must navigate to the 'Careers' section and find the advertisement numbered ISRO:ICRB:02(EMC-CEPO):2026. The deadline to submit the online application is August 17, 2026. Applicants will need to register on the portal, fill in their personal details, academic qualifications, and valid GATE score information accurately. A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 250 is applicable for most candidates. It is crucial to complete the submission and fee payment well before the last minute to avoid any technical glitches due to high website traffic.
