Why These Disruptions Are Happening
The temporary inconvenience is part of a much larger, long-term upgrade. West Central Railway is undertaking critical engineering work to connect a new, third railway line between Bina and Agasod stations. This project is essential for decongesting one
of the busiest rail corridors, which handles significant passenger and freight traffic. The work, which includes pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking phases, is scheduled to run until October 15. Once completed, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to increase the line's capacity, improve the punctuality and reliability of trains, and allow for smoother management of rail traffic.
Cancelled Services in October
Several train services will be fully cancelled on specific dates in October due to the construction work. Passengers who have booked tickets on these trains should make alternative arrangements. The KSR Bengaluru-Lalkua Express (Train No. 15301) is cancelled on October 6 and 13. In the return direction, the Lalkua-KSR Bengaluru Express (Train No. 15302) is cancelled on October 3 and 10. Additionally, a number of MEMU services that cater to local and regional passengers will remain cancelled through to October 15, including the Santlptpur–Bina MEMU (64618), the Bina–Santlptpur MEMU (64617), and the Bina–Katni Murwara MEMU (61619/61620) on most days during this period.
Major Trains on Diverted Routes
A total of 17 long-distance services will be rerouted to bypass the construction zone. Passengers on these trains will experience longer journey times and will skip their usual stops at stations like Bina or Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi. Key diversions include: Rewanchal Express (12185/12186): The Rani Kamalapati-Rewa service will be diverted via Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni from October 8 to 14. Bhopal-Jodhpur Express (14813/14814): This train will run via Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Maksi, Nagda, and Kota from October 1 to 15 (Bhopal-Jodhpur) and October 1 to 14 (Jodhpur-Bhopal). Tamil Nadu Superfast Express (12621/12622): The Chennai-New Delhi service will run via Bhopal, Maksi, Guna, and Gwalior, skipping its stop at Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi on various dates between late September and October 14. Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express (11703/11704): This tri-weekly service will be rerouted through Bina Malkhedi, Guna, and Maksi on October 8, 11, and 13 (from Rewa) and October 9, 12, and 14 (return journey). * Gondwana Express (22181): The Jabalpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin service will be diverted via Katni, Ohan, and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi on October 8.
Short-Terminated and Altered Services
In addition to cancellations and diversions, some trains will not complete their full journey. The Bilaspur–Bhopal Express (Train No. 18236) will be short-terminated at Bina Malkhedi Junction instead of Bhopal from October 6 to 14. Furthermore, the Kota-Bina MEMU (61633) will be short-terminated at Mungawali until October 15. In a unique change, the Nagda–Bina Express (19341) will be extended to Katni Murwara until October 15, bypassing Bina station entirely via a flyover. The return service (19342) will originate from Katni Murwara instead of Bina.

The railway authorities have strongly advised all passengers with travel plans on this route in October to verify the latest status of their train before starting their journey. This can be done through the official Indian Railways website, the NTES app, or by calling the railway enquiry number 139. Given the extent of the disruptions, which include changes to routes, stoppages, and timings, checking for real-time updates is crucial to avoid inconvenience. Passengers with tickets on cancelled trains are entitled to a full refund. For diverted trains, it is important to check the new route and schedule to understand the impact on your arrival time and connecting journeys.
