Eligibility Criteria for Indian Travellers
To qualify for this complimentary visa offer, travellers must meet a specific set of conditions. The offer is exclusively for Indian passport holders who are departing from India. Simply booking a flight will not be enough to unlock the benefit. The visa cost is waived only when booking a complete holiday package through a participating travel agent or an approved online travel agency (OTA). Travellers cannot apply for the free visa independently; it must be part of the package deal processed by the travel partner.
Step-by-Step Booking Requirements
Securing the visa cost waiver involves booking a qualifying package that meets two main requirements. First, the package must include a minimum stay of three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel. Second, it must include a confirmed return flight ticket from India. Several travel partners in India, such as Akbar Travels, are part of this initiative. When booking through a participating agency, they will handle the visa application process. They can either work with a DCT-appointed Destination Management Company (DMC) where the cost is covered directly, or use their existing partners and get reimbursed by DCT Abu Dhabi. The key for the traveller is to ensure their booking is made through one of these official partners.
Important Travel Dates and Deadlines
This visa waiver initiative is a limited-time offer. The programme is valid for bookings made for travel between August 1, 2026, and October 31, 2026. It is important to note that these dates refer to the actual travel period, not just the booking window. Your trip must take place within this three-month timeframe to be eligible. Given that the pilot program is capped at 20,000 visas, travellers interested in this offer are advised to plan and book their holidays early to avoid disappointment, as the allocation may run out.
Distinguishing from Other Visa Types
It's crucial to understand that this holiday package offer is distinct from other UAE visa options available to Indian citizens. For instance, the UAE offers a free 48-hour transit visa for those with layovers longer than eight hours, typically facilitated through airlines like Etihad. There is also a 96-hour paid transit visa. Furthermore, Indian passport holders with a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, or EU may be eligible for a 14-day visa on arrival, but this is a separate facility with its own fees and conditions. The new promotional offer is specifically tied to booking a multi-night holiday package and is not an independent visa application route.
