An anticyclonic circulation, which is essentially a high-pressure zone with dry, windless conditions, begins to establish itself over northwest India. For the IMD to officially declare the start of the withdrawal, it looks for specific criteria: a complete cessation of rainfall for five consecutive days, the establishment of this anticyclone in the lower atmosphere, and a significant drop in moisture levels. This process usually starts from the westernmost parts of Rajasthan, the last region the monsoon reaches, and then gradually moves southeast across the country.
