Another popular and effective option is using silica gel packets—the kind you find in new shoe boxes or bags. You can collect these and place them on your shelves. For a pleasant scent along with moisture control, consider placing camphor balls or dried neem leaves in your closet; they are traditional repellents for pests and also help combat mustiness.
Final Checks Before Storing
One of the biggest mistakes is storing clothes that are not completely dry. Even a slightly damp garment can introduce a significant amount of moisture into your closet, creating problems for everything else inside. During the monsoon, when sun-drying is a luxury, ensure clothes are 100% dry by air-drying them near a fan or in a well-ventilated room. Pay special attention to thicker parts like collars, seams, and waistbands where moisture tends to linger.
