The airline will deploy larger aircraft with over 180 economy seats, a significant increase in capacity that should improve ticket availability for everyone.

After a suspension of several months due to regional tensions, direct flights between Madurai and Abu Dhabi are set to resume. IndiGo will restart its tri-weekly service on August 14, 2026, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This direct connection is a crucial link for the large expatriate community, business travellers, and labourers from southern Tamil Nadu working in the UAE. The four-hour direct flight eliminates the need for lengthy and often more expensive connecting journeys through larger hubs like Bengaluru or Chennai, which could take anywhere from seven to ten hours. This service was initially launched in June 2025 but was halted around February 2026. Its resumption restores a vital economic and cultural bridge between the region and the Gulf.
