Meet Your New AI Travel Guide
Andhra Pradesh has launched an ambitious initiative to transform the tourist experience by integrating artificial intelligence directly at its attractions. The state has partnered with travel-tech company Explurger to deploy a platform called NiVU AI
(Neural Intelligence Vernacular Unified Model). This isn't a bulky app you need to download; instead, it's a lightweight, web-based guide accessible instantly. The goal is to make every fort, temple, and beach capable of telling its own story, directly to you, in your language. This AI storyteller aims to provide deep insights into local history, culture, and traditions, moving beyond static information boards.
How It Works: Just Scan and Chat
Using the new AI guide is designed to be incredibly simple. At participating tourist sites, visitors will find a prominently placed "Ask AI" QR code. All you need is a smartphone with an internet connection. Simply scan the code, and a chat interface opens in your browser, connecting you to the AI assistant. There is no need to visit an app store or use up phone memory with a new download. From there, you can ask questions using either text or voice, allowing for a natural, conversational way to learn about the site you are visiting. The service is provided completely free of charge to all tourists.
Breaking the Language Barrier
One of the most significant features of the NiVU AI platform is its powerful multilingual capability. The system supports over 130 Indian and international languages, making it a valuable tool for both domestic and foreign visitors. Whether you speak Hindi, Tamil, French, or Japanese, you can receive information in your preferred language. This removes the common challenge of relying on English or regional language signboards, making heritage sites more inclusive and accessible to everyone. The system was even praised by officials for its accuracy and respectful tone when tested in regional languages like Telugu.
A Smarter, Personalized Itinerary
Beyond just providing information about a single location, the AI is designed to be a smarter travel companion. The platform offers location-aware recommendations, suggesting nearby attractions based on your current position. This helps you discover hidden gems and make the most of your time in a particular area. As you interact with the system, it can provide a more personalized experience, tailoring suggestions to your interests. For the tourism authority, the platform also provides valuable, anonymous data on visitor patterns and popular queries, which helps them improve services and plan for future tourism needs.
Where Can You Find It?
The AI guide is being rolled out in phases across Andhra Pradesh. A successful pilot program was conducted at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and Sri Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temples in Mangalagiri, receiving positive feedback from devotees. Following this success, the government is expanding the service to cover over 100 major tourist destinations within three years. The first phase will see the technology implemented at 30 flagship sites, including major temples, beaches, forts, and heritage monuments across the state. This initiative is a key part of the state's 'Swarna Andhra Vision-2047' to modernise through technology.
