First, aim to have your main, most substantial meal in the evening before your shift begins, perhaps between 7 PM and 8 PM. Treat this as your 'dinner'. During your shift, especially between midnight and 6 AM, it's best to avoid large, heavy meals. Your digestive system is at its least efficient during these hours. If you need energy, opt for light, high-protein snacks like a handful of nuts, a piece of fruit, or a small bowl of yoghurt. These are easier to digest and won't send your blood sugar on a rollercoaster. Upon finishing your shift in the morning, have a light breakfast before you go to sleep. Avoid anything heavy or greasy that might disrupt your sleep quality. The key is to create a daytime eating window and stick to it as consistently as possible.
Beyond the Plate: Other Alignment Tips
