What Is The Package E-Visa?
Saudi Arabia has introduced an innovative 'Package Visa' service, and it's a game-changer for tourists from India. This isn't a new type of visa, but rather a streamlined process that bundles your electronic tourist visa (e-visa) with your flights and accommodation
into a single purchase. The goal is to make planning a trip to the Kingdom smoother and more integrated. Instead of navigating separate visa applications, flight bookings, and hotel reservations, you can now secure everything at once through an approved travel provider. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, a plan focused on boosting tourism and making the country more accessible to global visitors. Currently, this package option is available to citizens of seven countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Egypt.
How The Process Works
The application process is designed for digital convenience. First, you choose a pre-designed or customisable travel package from an authorised agency like Almosafer, Webook, or Reserval. These packages must meet certain criteria, such as including round-trip flights and a stay at a licensed hotel rated four stars or higher. The trip duration can be anywhere from two to 88 days. After selecting your package, you upload your passport details and a personal photo. The entire payment for the visa, flights, hotel, and mandatory travel insurance is handled securely on one platform. Once your information is verified, the e-visa is issued and delivered to your email, often within 24 to 48 hours. This removes the need for embassy visits or separate, complex application forms.
Key Benefits for Indian Visitors
The most significant advantage of the Package Visa is accessibility. Previously, Indian citizens who didn't hold a valid US, UK, or Schengen visa had a more complex route to securing a tourist visa. This new system provides a direct and simplified electronic pathway. The all-in-one booking process saves time and reduces the hassle of coordinating different parts of your trip. With the visa tied to a confirmed travel package from a government-approved provider, it also adds a layer of trust and security to your booking. While the visa obtained through this package is for tourism and does not permit travel for the Hajj pilgrimage, visitors are free to travel throughout the Kingdom, including to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
Riyadh: The Dynamic Heart of Saudi
As Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh is a dazzling metropolis where modernity and tradition coexist. The city's skyline is dominated by architectural marvels like the 302-metre-tall Kingdom Centre, which features a sky bridge offering breathtaking views. For a glimpse into the nation's history, the Masmak Fortress stands as a monument to the birth of the modern Saudi state. Beyond the history, Riyadh is a bustling hub for business, shopping, and dining, with thousands of mosques and vibrant souks (marketplaces). The city is also investing heavily in entertainment and culture, hosting massive events like the Noor Riyadh light art festival.
AlUla: An Ancient Desert Wonder
For those seeking history and natural beauty, AlUla is an unmissable destination. This ancient desert region is home to Hegra, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hegra features over 100 remarkably preserved tombs carved into sandstone cliffs by the Nabataeans, the same civilization that built Petra in Jordan. Another iconic landmark is Jabal AlFil, or Elephant Rock, a massive natural rock formation that glows under the desert sunset. Visitors can also explore AlUla Old Town, a labyrinth of over 900 mud-brick houses, and marvel at Maraya, the world's largest mirrored building, which serves as a stunning concert hall and event venue.
