Embrace the Power of Powders
Powder products are your best friends during the monsoon. After applying your base, sweep a light layer of translucent setting powder all over your face to absorb excess moisture and lock your foundation in place. For areas that get particularly oily, like the T-zone, you can press the powder in with a puff for extra hold. It is also wise to swap out cream-based blushes, bronzers, and highlighters for their powder counterparts. Powder formulas are more resistant to humidity and less likely to smudge, helping your contour and colour stay fresh for longer.
Waterproof Eyes and Matte Lips
Nothing says makeup disaster quite like smudged eyeliner or running mascara. This is where waterproof formulas are non-negotiable. Choose waterproof and smudge-proof eyeliners and mascaras to avoid the dreaded "raccoon eyes" look, whether you're caught in a downpour or just dealing with the humid air. For your lips, creamy and glossy lipsticks are prone to smudging and transferring. A much better option for the monsoon is a matte liquid lipstick or a lip stain. These formulas are designed for long wear and are far more resilient against moisture, ensuring your lip colour stays put.
Lock It All in Place
The final and perhaps most crucial step is a setting spray. A good setting spray acts as a protective film over your makeup, sealing everything in and increasing its longevity. For monsoon weather, look specifically for a mattifying or long-lasting setting spray designed to resist humidity and sweat. Hold the bottle about eight to ten inches from your face and mist it evenly in an 'X' and 'T' formation. This final step will meld all the powder and liquid layers together for a seamless finish and provide an extra layer of insurance against the elements.
