Getting Around: Public Transport Is Your Friend
Baku is a very walkable city, but for longer distances, its public transport is efficient and incredibly cheap. The metro is a great way to get around, with a single ride costing only 0.40 AZN (about ₹20). You'll need to buy a BakiKart for 2 AZN (about ₹100) and load it with credit. Azerbaijani food is a delicious blend of Turkish and Persian influences, and you don't need to spend much to enjoy it. Street food is a backpacker's dream, with options like qutab (stuffed flatbread) and doner kebabs costing between 2-5 AZN (₹100-₹250). A filling meal at a local cafe can be found for 8-15 AZN (₹400-₹750). For an authentic and cheap meal, head to the small, unnamed eateries away from the main tourist drag of Nizami Street.
