The 96-Hour Instant Stopover Visa
The most straightforward and truly 'instant' option is the Stopover Visa. Indian travellers flying on Saudi national carriers like Saudia or Flynas can get a complimentary 96-hour (four-day) transit visa. The application is integrated directly into the flight booking process. When you book a flight with a layover in Saudi Arabia, you can opt for the visa, which is typically processed automatically and sent to your email. While the visa itself is free, there are nominal administrative and mandatory medical insurance fees to be paid. This visa is perfect for travellers wanting a brief taste of the Kingdom, exploring a city like Riyadh or Jeddah, or performing Umrah during their journey to another destination.
E-Visas for Holders of Major Visas
For many Indian travellers, an existing visa for another country is the key to unlocking Saudi Arabia. If you hold a valid and previously used tourist or business visa for the United States, the United Kingdom, or any Schengen area country, you are eligible for a Saudi tourist e-visa or a visa on arrival. This option allows for longer stays, typically up to 90 days per visit on a one-year, multiple-entry visa. To be eligible, travellers must book a travel package through an authorized tourism company or platform. This package must include round-trip flights and accommodation in a hotel rated at least four stars. The visa application is integrated into the booking process; once you provide your details and pay for the trip, the visa is processed electronically. This system removes the need for separate embassy visits or holding other foreign visas, opening up the country to a much larger pool of Indian tourists.
