A Pioneering Industry-Academia Partnership
In a significant move to cultivate future-ready talent, EY India and SRCC, one of India's premier commerce colleges, have launched a new initiative called AI VIBE (Varsity for Innovation, Business and Economics). Announced in August 2026, this 12-month
program is designed to immerse students in the world of artificial intelligence, directly addressing the growing demand for AI literacy in the professional landscape. The collaboration, launched during SRCC's centenary year, creates a new model of learning that combines rigorous academic coursework with deep industry immersion. The EY-sponsored program is offered at no cost to a select cohort of 100 students, making it a highly sought-after opportunity.
Inside the AI VIBE Curriculum
The AI VIBE program goes far beyond a theoretical overview. Its curriculum is built to provide hands-on training in the most relevant and in-demand areas of technology. Students will receive immersive training in machine learning, generative AI, data analytics, blockchain, and financial technologies. The course structure also emphasizes the practical application of these skills through topics like decision intelligence and understanding AI agents. Crucially, the program includes modules on responsible AI and AI governance, ensuring students grasp the ethical considerations surrounding the technology's use in business. This holistic approach is designed to build both technical expertise and sharp business problem-solving capabilities.
How Students Are Selected and Trained
Gaining a spot in the AI VIBE program is a competitive process. The initiative is open to second-year undergraduate and first-year postgraduate students at SRCC. Applicants must go through a selective admission process that includes assessments, interviews, and the submission of a detailed Statement of Purpose (SOP). Once selected, the 100 students will engage in a blended learning model that includes physical classes on campus, live online sessions, and visits to EY training centers. Learning is reinforced through hackathons, continuous project-based assessments, mentorship from EY specialists, and engagement with industry leaders, moving education beyond traditional classroom instruction.
Bridging the Critical Skills Gap
Leaders from both institutions have highlighted the program's core mission: to make students confident and ready for an AI-enabled economy. Rajiv Memani, Chairman and CEO of EY India, noted that as AI transforms the workplace, AI literacy has become a foundational capability for students entering the workforce. SRCC Principal Prof. Simrit Kaur emphasized that connecting education directly with industry needs is essential for bridging the skills gap. This initiative gives students direct exposure to real-world business challenges and emerging technologies, providing a significant advantage in the job market and offering potential internship and placement opportunities at EY India.
A Blueprint for Future Education?
The EY and SRCC collaboration is more than just a single program; it represents a potential blueprint for the future of higher education in India. As technology evolves at a pace that traditional curricula struggle to match, such industry-academia partnerships are becoming vital. This initiative is an extension of EY's broader commitment to fostering AI skills, which includes internal programs like 'EY AI Varsity' for its employees and a partnership with Microsoft for the 'AI Skills Passport'. By directly embedding industry expertise within a premier academic institution, the AI VIBE program sets a new benchmark for preparing the next generation of business leaders and professionals in India.
