Dates, Timings, and Booking
The special monsoon opening, known as Udyan Utsav-II, is expected to welcome visitors from August 16 to September 15, 2026. The gardens will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM, with the last entry permitted at 5 PM. Note that the gardens are closed every Monday
for maintenance. Entry is free, but booking a slot online in advance is mandatory. On-the-spot booking will not be available, so it's essential to visit the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website to reserve your time slot. Bookings for a specific day typically close at 10 AM the day before, so plan ahead, especially for weekends.
Getting There and Entry
Entry and exit for all visitors is through Gate No. 35 on North Avenue Road. The most convenient way to reach the area is by metro; the Central Secretariat station is the nearest. To make the journey seamless, a complimentary shuttle bus service runs every 30 minutes from Central Secretariat Metro Station (from Gate 4) to the entrance at Gate No. 35. This service operates from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Remember to carry a government-issued photo ID along with your digital visitor pass on your mobile phone.
What to Wear and Carry
Dressing for a monsoon visit is all about comfort and staying dry. Opt for lightweight, quick-drying fabrics. Most importantly, choose your footwear wisely. Wet pathways can be slippery, so comfortable, non-slip shoes or sturdy sandals are a must. Leave the heels and leather shoes at home. You are allowed to carry a small purse or handbag, a mobile phone, and an umbrella. However, items like large backpacks, cameras, video equipment, and outside food and drinks are strictly prohibited. Drinking water, first-aid stations, and restrooms are available for convenience along the visitor route.
Monsoon's Unique Floral Display
A visit during the wet season offers a completely different floral palette compared to the popular spring opening. Udyan Utsav-II is designed specifically to showcase summer annuals and native Indian flowers that thrive in the monsoon. Expect to see vibrant displays of Balsam (Gul-mehndi), Aparajita, and various other indigenous flowering plants. The rain-washed greenery, fewer crowds, and the fresh scent of wet earth create a tranquil atmosphere that's perfect for a peaceful stroll. New attractions like the Babbling Brook Garden, Banyan Groves, and a floral clock add to the experience.
Navigating The Gardens
The visitor trail is well-planned, guiding you through key attractions like the Bal Vatika for children, Bonsai Garden, Long Garden, and Circular Garden. During the monsoon, sheltered spots are provided along the route to offer protection from sudden downpours. To enhance the visit, QR codes are installed near major plant species. Scanning them on your mobile phone provides detailed information about the plants, turning your walk into an educational experience. With amenities thoughtfully placed, you can take your time and enjoy the gardens at a relaxed pace without worrying about the weather.
