Ufa Attack Unfolds
In a disturbing event that took place in the city of Ufa, Russia, on a Saturday, a violent stabbing incident occurred, impacting several people. Tragically,
four Indian students pursuing their medical education were among those who sustained injuries during this assault. The Indian Embassy in Moscow was promptly notified and confirmed the unfortunate happening. In response, officials from the Indian consulate, located in Kazan—a city approximately 400 kilometers away—initiated travel to Ufa to extend support and assistance to the affected students. The embassy communicated that they were actively engaged with Russian authorities to gather more information and ensure the well-being of their citizens.
Dormitory Violence
Reports from local media outlets paint a grim picture of the incident, indicating that a total of at least six individuals, in addition to two police officers, were wounded in the widespread stabbing. Preliminary accounts suggest the perpetrator, identified as a teenager, entered a dormitory belonging to the State Medical University in Ufa. This individual, armed with a knife, then proceeded to attack several students within the premises. The situation escalated further when the attacker resisted arrest, leading to the stabbing of two police officers who were attempting to apprehend them. According to statements from the Interior Ministry spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Irina Volk, the suspect also inflicted self-harm during the confrontation. The nationalities and specific identities of all the students affected were not immediately disclosed in the initial reports.
