Priyanka's Deepfake Voice
Global star Priyanka Chopra has recently found herself in the crosshairs of deepfake technology, adding to a growing list of celebrities targeted by manipulated
media. Unlike previous instances where faces were altered, Priyanka's case involves a fabricated voiceover. The viral clip depicts her seemingly discussing her annual earnings and endorsing a product, however, the audio and scripted dialogue are entirely artificial, seemingly derived from her past interviews. The source account for this disturbing video was also found to be unclickable, adding another layer of concern and difficulty in tracing the origin of the misinformation.
Alia Bhatt's Digital Disguise
The unsettling trend of deepfakes has previously ensnared Alia Bhatt, whose manipulated video circulated widely across social media platforms. This particular fabrication involved digitally superimposing Alia's face onto another individual's body. In the fabricated scene, the faux Alia, dressed in a blue floral co-ord set, is shown interacting with the camera. The sophisticated nature of this digital alteration underscores the increasing ability to create convincing yet entirely false representations of public figures, blurring the lines between reality and digital deception.
Kajol and Katrina's Scrutiny
Following Alia Bhatt's ordeal, Bollywood actress Kajol also became a target of deepfake technology. Her manipulated video was revealed to feature a British social media influencer initially changing clothes on camera, with Kajol's likeness digitally applied. Fact-checking organizations, such as BoomLive, played a crucial role in uncovering the genuine origin of this footage. Similarly, Katrina Kaif was targeted with a manipulated video originating from an action sequence in the film 'Tiger-3'. While the original clip showed her in a towel, the edited version presented her wearing a different, low-cut white top, demonstrating the diverse ways these false narratives can be constructed.
