A Sweeping Sweet Achievement
In a dazzling display of culinary artistry and collaborative spirit, London became the stage for an extraordinary gastronomic record on April 25, 2026.
A team of nearly 100 Italian chefs, led by the renowned Mirko Ricci, meticulously crafted a tiramisu of unprecedented proportions. This monumental dessert measured an astonishing 440.6 meters, equivalent to a staggering 1,445 feet and 6 inches. This remarkable achievement not only shattered the previous record of 273.5 meters, set in Milan, Italy, but also celebrated the rich heritage of Italian cuisine on an international scale. The entire preparation was a live event, adhering to the stringent guidelines set by Guinness World Records, ensuring every step contributed to the integrity of this colossal sweet creation.
The Colossal Ingredient List
Bringing such a massive dessert to life required an almost unbelievable quantity of high-quality ingredients, meticulously measured and distributed to ensure a consistent flavor and texture from start to finish. The chefs utilized approximately 99 kilograms of rich coffee, the essential aromatic base of any tiramisu. Sweetness was expertly balanced with 465 kilograms of sugar, a testament to the dessert's grand scale. A generous dusting of 60 kilograms of cocoa powder added the characteristic deep, bittersweet notes. The structural integrity and classic texture were provided by an immense 152,000 ladyfinger biscuits, carefully layered throughout the creation. Binding everything together and providing the creamy richness were approximately 90,000 eggs, a truly staggering number that underscores the sheer magnitude of this culinary undertaking. This precise and voluminous use of ingredients was crucial for meeting the Guinness World Records' standards.
A Triumph of Teamwork
The journey to this record-breaking tiramisu was not just about ingredients and size; it was a profound demonstration of international culinary collaboration and dedication. Mirko Ricci, no stranger to holding prestigious dessert records, spearheaded this ambitious project. His previous record was surpassed in 2019, making this a significant personal and professional triumph. The event at Chelsea Town Hall wasn't solely orchestrated by chefs; several food brands and partners contributed significantly, transforming the attempt into a grand celebration of Italian gastronomic excellence. This collaborative spirit highlights how large-scale culinary endeavors can unite people, fostering a sense of shared accomplishment and promoting the beloved flavors of Italian desserts to a global audience through such unique and memorable achievements.
